An infrastructure-as-code template for SvelteKit on AWS

Created IAC template for SvelteKit deployment on AWS Lambda / S3

  • SvelteKit
  • AWS Lambda
  • AWS S3
  • AWS CloudFormation
  • AWS CloudFront
  • AWS CloudFront Functions

When new web applications at Lumeris moved to SvelteKit, each one also needed somewhere to run. I created an infrastructure-as-code template for deploying SvelteKit on AWS Lambda and S3, so new applications deploy the same way every time.

How it fits together

  • AWS Lambda runs the server side of the SvelteKit app.
  • AWS S3 stores the static assets.
  • AWS CloudFront sits in front of both as the CDN.
  • CloudFront Functions handle lightweight request logic at the edge.
  • AWS CloudFormation defines all of it as code, so a new environment is one template deployment instead of a list of manual steps.

Why a template

Infrastructure as code makes deployments repeatable and reviewable. A shared template also means each team doesn't have to work out the same architecture on its own.
